Dear Claypit Caregivers,

Fall Conferences: A Valuable Home-School Partnership
We look forward to welcoming families to fall conferences beginning October 21, with additional conference dates on October 28 and November 4. These conversations are an important opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school, celebrate students’ growth, discuss their academic and social-emotional development, and work together to support their continued success.
Caregiver participation is essential! Your perspective and insights help us build a shared understanding of each child’s strengths, needs, and goals. We strongly encourage every family to make time to connect with their child’s teacher. By working together, we can ensure that every student feels known, supported, challenged, and ready to thrive!

Fall PTO Meeting Slides
Marie loved the opportunity to present at our Fall PTO meeting and connect with our wonderful caregivers! We are grateful for the PTO’s continued partnership and for the many ways our families contribute to the life of our school.

For those who attended and anyone who would like to revisit the information, we are sharing the presentation slides below. Thank you for your ongoing engagement, thoughtful questions, and commitment to our Claypit community. We value our partnership with you and look forward to continuing this important work together!

Celebrating Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month
At this month’s All School Meeting, we celebrated National Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month! We were honored to hear from members of our own Claypit community who generously shared their voices and perspectives, including second grader Emma Bernaciak-Scagni, fourth grader Gianna DiAngelis, Claypit’s head custodian Giraldy Gomez, building substitute Paulina Correa, and Ms. Narita.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make this celebration so meaningful. Having members of our community share their experiences gave us an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions represented within our school community. These moments help our students learn from one another and celebrate the many identities and experiences that make Claypit such a special place!

Socktober!

Thank you for helping Claypit Hill practice empathy!

Claypit Hill’s 2026-27 Student Council would like to make Socktober an annual tradition. We are again collecting new socks for those in need: infants, children, or adults.
Please leave your sock donation in our bin located just outside the front door.
Thank you for making a difference in someone’s life!

Designated Prayer Space

The Wayland public schools strive to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where every student feels seen, valued, and supported. To support the needs of our community, Claypit provides a designated quiet space in our Meditation Room for midday prayer and contemplative practice for students and staff.

If your child would like to use this space, please email their classroom teacher so we can coordinate access and ensure the room is available when needed. Staff members are also happy to show students where the room is located and help them feel comfortable accessing it.

Please note that the Meditation Room is a multipurpose space and may occasionally be in use. If this occurs, students can ask a staff member for assistance in finding an alternative quiet space.

We are grateful for our continued partnership with families as we work together to ensure that every member of our Claypit community feels welcomed, respected, and supported.

Just Like Me

The Just Like Me (JLM) program is coming to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms this year and we are looking for volunteers. JLM is a disability awareness program bringing information, experiential exercises, and guest speakers into your child's classroom. The topics are deafness and hearing loss (3rd grade), learning differences (4th grade), and autism (5th grade). While volunteers typically have a child in the classroom they sign up for, it's not required, so anyone can volunteer and no experience is necessary! Dates are tentatively set for late November for 5th grade and late March/early April for 3rd and 4th grades. Interested in helping out? Contact ClaypitPTO@gmail.com. Any questions? Contact Colleen Kurson at colleenkurson@gmail.com.

PTO Thank You

Thank you to Lisa Betchel-Johnson, Cathy Gustus, Alexis Schayowitz, and Andrea Toochin for organizing the Harvest Festival last Sunday! And thank you to all of the volunteers that leant a hand at the bouncy houses, face painting, crafts, water bucket challenge, food tables, and book fair. We also appreciate our wonderful staff who agreed to take the water bucket challenge (Ms. Brigham, Ms. Narita, and Ms LeBaron)! We hope everyone enjoyed bringing their family to Claypit for a gorgeous fall afternoon!

And thank you to Lauren Grant, Courtney Marzilli, Larina Mehta, and Jen Lux for organizing and supporting the book fair operations last week! We also appreciate all the caregivers who came to help classes visit the book fair and to all who contributed funds to enable teachers, reading specialists, and the librarian to add new books to their libraries!

My Brother's Table

Claypit Hill collects donations throughout the year to support local families through My Brother’s Table food pantry. Watch for suggested donations each month, and consider picking up a few items to contribute when you’re at the grocery store. There is a donation bin at the Claypit Hill entrance, which is an easy spot for kids or families to drop-off donations as they enter the school.

Thank you to everyone who donated pasta and sauce at the Harvest Festival! We collected over 175 items to help feed families in Wayland!
