Dear Claypit Hill Caregivers,
As we move through the final days of the school year, we are beginning to prepare to say goodbye to our fifth graders. This class has been a remarkable group of leaders who come to school each day ready to live our PAWS values. They do this in classrooms, hallways, and every other space that makes up the Claypit Hill community. They have set a wonderful example for our younger students, and we are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.
On June 23rd at 10:45 a.m., we will celebrate our fifth graders with a Clap Out. Our entire school community will line the halls to show our appreciation for this class and cheer them on as they head toward their next chapter. It is always a meaningful Claypit tradition and a fitting sendoff for a group that has contributed so much to our school.
As difficult as it is to say goodbye to our fifth graders, it is equally hard to say goodbye to many of our fifth-grade families. Over six years, we work together to support children through challenges, milestones, and celebrations. During that time, relationships deepen, and families become an important part of the fabric of our school community.
In particular, we would like to recognize several PTO volunteers whose contributions have had a tremendous impact on Claypit Hill.
First, we want to thank Heather Grimmett, our PTO Director of Communications. Every Tuesday E-News edition has Heather’s fingerprints on it. In addition, she has planned and supported our annual STEAM Night and helped bring our school values to life through Claypit Cares, our annual school-wide day of service. We are grateful for the countless hours, creativity, and expertise she has shared so generously over the years.
We are also saying goodbye to Eliza Mosurick, Amanda Harpole, Avi Dagan, and Linda Martinez. These dedicated volunteers have organized Picture Day, spearheaded our monthly donations to My Brother’s Table, planned Harvest Fest, run the Book Fair, and participated in countless committees and initiatives. Thank you for your service to our school and our community. Please know that we will miss your faces just as much as we will miss the sweet faces of your children.
While we still have a few years left with Alexis Schayowitz, we would be remiss if we did not pause to thank her as she transitions out of the PTO Presidency and passes the torch to the capable hands of Amanda Gale.
As the three of us learned our roles, Alexis stood quietly beside us, supporting us in every endeavor. When we envisioned a lobby that would warmly welcome students and caregivers, Alexis led the way. Next came a front office makeover. When we mentioned that we'd love to see more spirit wear around town, it seemed that in the blink of an eye, Wayland was filled with students proudly showing off their school spirit. There are simply too many community events, initiatives, and fundraisers to mention.
